0.2 - Combat, Zombies and Trees


Hello! Today I am releasing Allumeria 0.2!

Additions

  • Added zombies that can roam around and attack the player
    • Zombies spawn at night within a 20 block radius of the player
    • They burn up during the day
    • They only spawn in areas where red light is below 7 (temporary solution)
    • You can currently press the G key to spawn them anywhere if you want to mess with them
  • Added an animated first person view model
    • This shows your hand and a model of the tool you are holding
  • Added combat system
    • Dying currently sends you back to the world spawn
  • Added new tool: Hammer
    • The hammer lets you turn any block into a slab, and any slab into a block
    • In the future this tool will allow you to shape blocks into different shapes, like stairs or fences
  • Added a creative menu, accessed by pressing C in your inventory
  • Added a 3D audio system, audio can now play in the world
  • New sounds for these actions:
    • Breaking blocks
    • Picking up items
    • Opening/closing doors
    • Zombie idle, hurt, attack, die
    • Swinging tools
    • Taking damage
  • There are now animations for breaking blocks, using tools and items
  • Added knockback system
  • Added new block model system that allows for more advanced models (leaves, stairs, doors, furniture)
  • New tree system with 3 new types
    • Pine trees with fancy leaves
    • Birch trees, tall with fluffy leaves
    • Maple trees, shorter with red leaves
  • Trees can now be felled by chopping their base. The entire tree will come down at once.

  • Added bagels and everything bagels
  • Items can now be tagged as consumable and can also restore health when consumed
  • Blocks now have a more advanced collision system
  • You can now swim in water
  • Added doors, they open and close by right clicking. (Currently can't change the facing direction)
  • Added key rebinding, can view and change controls in settings
  • Added blueberries and blueberry bushes
  • Can now select hotbar slots using the number keys (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,-,=)
  • Added settings to control how many threads are used to mesh chunks, and how many chunks can be uploaded to the gpu within a frame

Changes

  • Game can now load and animate models created in blockbench, this should speed up adding new entities to the game.
  • Entities now support shading
  • Entities can now be lit by light sources
  • Modified sky, fog and cloud colours, especially around sunset
  • Fog is now much thicker
  • New ore textures
  • Logs are now thinner
  • Leaves have a new model that makes them appear fluffier
  • Daylight cycle is no longer based on seconds elapsed, but ticks elapsed
  • You can hold numpad 6 to speed up time (temporarily)
  • Blocks now require the correct time to mine at the tool's listed speed
  • Blocks can now be mined twice as fast if a tool is above a certain level
  • Updated the physics system
  • New chest model, water model and torch model
  • Item count text now has a dark outline to increase visibility
  • Inventory is now darker and transparent to increase contrast between items and the background
  • Selected block highlight now conforms to the shape of the block
  • Crosshair textures have been updated for better contrast
  • Leaves now block less light
  • Blocks that should be unobtainable are now hidden
  • Can't mine blocks while holding swords or hammers (new cant_mine tag)

Fixes

  • Fixed bug with collision models being incorrectly calculated, causing awkward player movement
  • Fixed not being able to drink potions
  • Fixed stars not rendering correctly
  • Fixed being able to eat tools and items
  • Fixed tooltips rendering behind menus in some cases
  • Fixed noclip physics being weird vertically
  • Fixed dupe glitch with right clicking in the crafting menu
