0.7 - Aura Farming Boss


Additions

Boss (SPOILERS!!!!)

  • Added the game's first boss: The Forest Spirit
    • By looting the forest dungeon you cause a disturbance in the balance of the forest
    • The forest spirit may come back to restore this balance 

Combat

  • Split the functionality of bows into two items
    • Crossbow, automatically shoots arrows when left click held down
    • Better crossbows deal more damage and have less cooldown between shots
    • Bow, hold down right click to charge a more powerful shot
    • Better bows deal more damage and dont take as long to fully charge
    • Damage from arrows now combines bow and arrow ranged damage values
  • Added crossbow and bow variants for each material tier
  • Added reinforced arrows, deals more damage
  • Added flaming arrows, sets entities on fire for 10 seconds
  • Added explosive arrows, explodes on collision (probably OP, need to find a way to balance)
  • Added singular brick item, can be thrown
  • Added frying pan
    • 1s cooldown, but can concuss enemies for 4 seconds
  • Added a death screen and a 10s cooldown for respawning
  • Added boomerang
    • Returns when too far away
    • Returns when hit an enemy or block
    • Will deal damage to every enemy it hits in it's path
  • Added fall damage, any distance >5m will deal 1 HP per meter
    • Trinkets that let you jump higher or fly now give some extra fall damage protection
    • If you use noclip, you wont get fall damage
  • Added stun/concussion debuff
    • 0.5x movement speed, 0.5x jump height
    • Prevents enemies from attacking
  • Explosions now do damage to entities (including you!)
  • Added a stamina system
    • Sprinting now drains stamina
    • You get 4 seconds of stamina
    • Stamina recharges at the same rate it depletes
    • If you drain the bar completely, you wont be able to sprint until it fully recharges
    • This system will be expanded on in the future, likely with permanent upgrades to stamina

Farming

  • Added a hoe to till soil
  • Added dry and wet soil
    • Soil becomes dry over time
  • Added sprinklers
    • Can be triggered via entwinement
    • Automatically waters soil in a 5x5 pattern around it
  • Added watering can, can water crops and soil
  • Crops are harvested by right clicking, breaking them will destroy the plant
  • Added Watermelon, can be thrown at enemies, causes concussion
  • Added Arrow Root, can be used as arrows
  • Added Bomberry, can be used as a bomb
  • Added Rockmelon, can be used as powerful slingshot ammow
  • Added Glow beans, can be thrown and used to light up caves
  • Added Wheat
  • Added Tomatoes
  • Crops have a chance to mutate when they reach maturity
  • There is a small chance for weeds to grow when farmland is left empty for a long period of time
    • Weeds will never destroy crops
    • They also have a chance to mutate

Food and Healing

  • Food items no longer heal you when eaten
  • Potions are now the only source of instant healing
  • Added a cooldown to healing to prevent spamming potions
  • Food now grants a minor buff instead
    • Small foods give a "Snack" buff (minor improvements to defence, movement speed and damage)
    • Bigger foods give a "Small Meal" buff which is 2x stronger
    • More buffs will be added as more food options become available
  • Added Heart Beet, they give you an additional heart when consumed and generate deep in caves

###Polish

  • Added an ambient sound system
    • Mixes ambient tracks dynamically based on your surroundings
  • Added view bobbing (and a setting to turn it off)
  • Added screenshake (and a setting to turn it off)
  • Climbing up stairs is now much smoother visually
  • Added a button to automatically compact your inventory
  • Can now shift click to transfer items to and from the hotbar

Misc

  • Added throwable torch, can be thrown and sticks a torch wherever it lands
  • Added a new rare crate that drops a random fun item
  • Added a new underground structure with unique loot

Changes

  • Esc now closes the recipe book but keeps inventory open
  • Swing speed is now shown in seconds
  • Updated tooltip system to be more concise and use icons
  • Updated pine trees
    • New leaf shape that only uses 1 block state
    • Now drops pine cones
  • All trees now drop seeds instead of saplings
  • Plants or rocks now require a supporting block below them
  • Oak trees now generate in forest
  • Disabled the window title lines for now (will find a better place in the future)
  • New volume settings for UI and Ambient

Fixes

  • Healing stone is now included in dungeon loot
  • Fixed saplings not growing
  • Fixed lighting trees that are grown with saplings not being calculated
  • Fixed leaves and plants rendering a bit too dark
  • Fixed messed up lighting on rotated stairs and doors
  • Fixed item model not updating when a stack has been depleted
  • Fixed issue where item swing speed was not being applied correctly
  • Fixed issue where the player would freeze, for a moment, or permanently, when teleporting
  • Autosaving now saves the player AND the world, not just the world
  • Keybinds are now saved between sessions
  • Fixed issue where keybinds were not being translated
  • Player no longer awkwardly spawns in the air, instead spawns on a solid block
  • Introduced a better UI scaler than works with 4k monitors
  • Fixed non-global volume settings not properly being applied
